Preschool Children with Developmental Disabilities in the educational system of
the Međimurje County 'First Step' Čakovec, in partnership with the Senjar
Environmental Protection Association and the Paintball Recreation Center
'Pozoj' from Donja Dubrave organizes on Sunday, June 9th a Charity Downhill for
boats that are old along the Drava River.
To promote awareness
of the importance of early integration and inclusion of children with
disabilities with the support of helpers already in pre-school education and to
point out the importance of preserving the Drava River as the last pearl of
untouched nature, significant for its biodiversity and tourist attractiveness,
the so-called European Amazon.
They will
paddle along the 11-kilometer-long Drava River from St. Mary to the Lower
Dubrava. The registration fee of 80 kuna includes a place in a rubber raft
boat, a paddle, a safety vest, roasting sausages on a campfire and
liquid refreshments on a sand pond.
The gathering
is between 9 am and 9:30 am at the Drava Bath at St. Mary's (turn at the hydroelectric
power station), and the descent starts at 10 am. Bring your vehicles (drivers
only) to Donja Dubrava to the white bridge from where a bus transfer to St.
Mary's is organized at 9:30 am. Thus, at the end of the descent, your vehicle
is waiting for you at the finish line. The end of the descent is scheduled
between 15 and 16 hours.
"At the
end of the downhill, we can continue swimming and socializing along the Drava
Channel. We are looking forward to joint rowing 'European Amazon'," said
from the Association of associations "Step One" Cakovec. The descent
is charitable, and the funds raised will be used exclusively for securing the
work of helpers for children with disabilities in preschool education.
