In Austria, most work injuries are on Monday

Monday is the most dangerous day of the week from the point of view of occupational injuries. It was announced by the Austrian General Insurance Company. A fifth of the injuries on the way will happen at the beginning of the week. As they approach Friday during the week, the numbers of injuries that have occurred are decreasing. Also for other types of occupational accidents other than on-the-go and from work, the critical day is just Monday.

Last year, the Austrian General Insurance Company (AUVA) registered a total of 41,661 occupational accidents. Of these, 12,264 of them, ie 11.8%, went to the workplace or workplace.

It also turned out that the most dangerous day of the week for travel to and from work is Monday. According to AUVA, 20.8% of all injuries to its clients occurred on the first business day. Also, in the last five years, accident statistics have been released Monday: from 2013 to 2017, 12,237 injuries on the way (21.1%) occurred just at the beginning of the week.

The second was followed by Tuesday (19.1%). As the working week progresses to its conclusion before the weekend, the lower the damage rate. On Friday, only 14.4% of all work injuries occur. And logically the least event is reported from Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays.

Six of the ten injuries on the way are road traffic accidents

Especially dangerous are those injured in road traffic injuries. They are a total of 61%, much more than injuries as a result of falling down during walking.

"During the fall and the winter, workers must make their way to work and work during dimming or quite in the dark. To this we can add rain, fog or snowfall ", points to the deteriorated road conditions in these seasons, AUVA transport expert Peter Schwaighofer.

Seeing and being seen - these are particularly important principles, emphasizes AUVA: "A darkly dressed pedestrian is perceived in poor visibility from a distance of about 25 to 30 meters. At the speed of a 50 km / h drive and a 40-meter braking distance, it is obvious that it may often be too late for the collision to be prevented. So reflective clothing with reflective tapes are very important."

They can help with light and contrasting overlays. People are then recognizable at 40-50 meters. If the pedestrian is wearing reflective vests, the motorist sees it from a distance of 160 meters.

The consequences of the accident affect the majority of the hull: 29.9% of the injuries on the way last year involved injury to the lower body, 22.1% of the upper torso. Every seventh injury will hit the neck, every tenth head. On average, every twenty-one injury goes to the back and spine.

Yellow vests in action

Yellow vests on a mass scale begin to destroy, or glue cameras that measure speed. 60% of these devices no longer work. The reflective tapes on the yellow vest is screaming and the yellow vest is clearly visible.

Initially, the movement of yellow vests was a protest against the increase of fuel taxes. Its participants wear such reflective vests, which are obligatory in the event of a stop and trouble on the road.

Yellow vests for 9 weeks demonstrate every weekend on the streets of French cities, but also block many roads. In addition, they lead to the entry of gates on motorways, so you do not have to pay for them.

As it turns out, they are also destroying and blocking cameras and radars that measure speed on roads and streets. In all of France, 3,200 such devices were destroyed. Some do not work, because they are painted with black paint, or stuck. 300 cameras are completely destroyed. The costs of one together with the installation amount to several dozen thousand euros.

In a conversation with CNN, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry said that more than 60% of these devices are no longer in operation. Yellow vests protest against new road rules. On two-way roads with only one lane in each direction, the speed limit is limited to 90 km / h.

The previously permitted speed was 100 km / h. By introducing restrictions, the authorities explained this for security reasons.

Interior Minister Christophe Castaner is fighting the yellow vests not only allowing the police to act brutally but also in the media calling them fools.

- In social media, I saw fools destroying cameras. It's not about money, it's about human life, "said the minister.

Yellow vests think that this is just a way to rip money from people for mandates.

Students at the command

The Poviat Police District in Kutno was visited by students from the 7th and 8th grades of the Primary School in Micina. They put on the police reflective vest. Young people had the opportunity to learn what requirements must be met in order to be a police officer and what the daily law enforcement service looks like.

On December 4, at the headquarters of the District Police Headquarters in Kutno, a meeting with young people was held to promote work in the police. The meeting was held as part of the World Entrepreneurship Week 2018 and the "Open Company" program. The meeting participants had the opportunity to learn the criteria necessary to join the police ranks. Uniforms explained where and what documents to submit and discussed the various stages of the qualification procedure. The youth also had the opportunity to watch, among others a management station meeting a duty unit, a forensic technique lab, and the equipment that police officers use to secure mass events.

At the end of the meeting, the youth watched the police cars in the unit. It was not without gifts. Due to the autumn period, each participant of the meeting received a reflective tapes.

Bella Hadid, we have to talk about your latest look

Dear Bella Hadid, with the number of risky looks with which you have delighted us in all this time we thought we were used to and that nothing would be able to surprise us ... but we must admit that we were wrong. Your new style has left us completely out of place!

In her last public appearance on the streets of New York, the model wore ugly sneakers, a white shirt as a dress and ... wait a moment, what binds us is a reflective vest ?!

And what's behind it is not a traffic cone?

Yes, girl Cosmo, we know what you're asking right now. Has the car broken down and had to wear the vest with the reflective materials from the trunk? Or is it that he has left the catwalks to dedicate himself to direct the circulation of roads? Either option could make sense -well, the second maybe not so much-, but the truth is that Bella was heading to a dinner organized by Louis Vuitton in the city of skyscrapers to show his collection of men for next season, And the fluorescent vest was simply part of her outfit!

A slippery snow

Motorists hate them. Those road users who rely on the bicycle as a means of transport of their choice even during a snowstorm. On the other hand, there is no legal objection, as Brunswick's deputy city police commander Hardin Loser confirms: "There is no law that would ban cycling in snow and ice." There are also no legal requirements with regard to winter-proof tire tires. "That also applies to motorcycles", as Mores notes.

If you want to brave wind and weather, you should make sure that you are traveling with a roadworthy bike. On the one hand, because this is the only way to guarantee that the necessary technical prerequisites are met. On the other hand, however, because in case of damage, the insurance will look very closely, whether the ability to drive was given.

Light and braking
Especially because of the early onset of darkness, the lighting system must be complete and functional. Also recommended are reflective clothing with reflective materialS or accessories. Good brakes are also essential in difficult winter driving conditions. Unfortunately, the road salt increases the material enormously, so all wearing parts should be cleaned and checked regularly.

In addition, it is important to be careful when choosing the route. Cycle lanes are freed by the clearing services most of the last of the snow. If the driving conditions on the bike path are therefore unreasonable, there is no longer any obligation to use them. On the contrary, insurance companies sometimes cite such winter conditions as an example of the fact that the bike path should no longer be used.

The right tires

Even if there are no legal requirements for tires, spikes are recommended for use on ice rinks. How you can even make such coats yourself, was already discussed at this point - and found by the majority of the community for little sense. But in principle, a snow road is easy to grip and sufficient traction is guaranteed with conventional studded tires.

Attention driver - on the roads slippery!

The current aura forces the change of driving technique, unfortunately, many drivers forget about it. Police officers appeal for prudence and common sense. Incorrect speed to the conditions on the road may be the cause of the tragedy. Especially when it is raining or snowing, which significantly reduces visibility and extends the braking distance.

Road conditions are very changeable, more treacherous and dangerous for both drivers and pedestrians. That's why traffic cops appeal to everyone, both drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, to be particularly cautious and careful.

The most common cause of incidents is maladjustment of speed to conditions on the road or failure to exercise due care.

POLICE RECALLS:

In connection with rain or snow, the roadways can be slippery, and in such situations, the wheels easily lose their grip. Remember that in many different places, the road surface combined with rainfall extends the braking distance of the vehicle. In extreme cases, the driver may slip and not control the car. Overtaking in such conditions, over-riding, many other maneuvers can be very dangerous. Drivers should remember to navigate the road with lights on and observe the speed limits, and during bad weather conditions, to slow down according to the principle that slower means safer. We call for caution and, above all, adjusting speed to the prevailing conditions.

You should pay close attention to forests and water reservoirs, the road can be particularly slippery there. Exercise extreme caution near pedestrian crossings. Also, be careful when commuting to them. If the pedestrian enters the passage, the driver may not slow down.

We send a special appeal to the pedestrians so that they do not go directly in front of the oncoming vehicle. Even at a pedestrian crossing, make sure that the driver can stop the vehicle. Of course, the pedestrian takes precedence over the passage, but here the principle of limited trust is most applicable.

Every pedestrian and cyclist should also remember about their safety and take care to be visible. A reflective vest, key chain, headband or even a flashlight will make it easier to see the oncoming drivers when moving along a poorly lit road. We would like to remind you that from August 31, 2014, all pedestrians who move around the dusk along the way outside the built-up area must have a reflection visible to the drivers. The lack of a reflective element is threatened by a fine.

Traffic regulations do not impose an obligation to use vests and reflective materials in the built-up area, however, wearing reflective elements with reflective fabrics greatly improves visibility. They give drivers valuable time to take the right response - often saving lives and health.

Remember - permissible speed does not always mean safe speed.

It is also important to remember about proper and compliant use of fog lights and daytime running lights (Article 51 of the Law on Road Traffic).

An additional difficulty during this period (not only for drivers) is often worse well-being. A bad mood can affect the speed of reaction and concentration, which is also worth remembering when moving on the road.

Be visible on the road

In 2017, one of the most common variations of dramatic events on Polish roads was driving a vehicle on people moving on foot. There were 7911 such situations. It is curious to note that 13% of road accidents happened at pedestrian crossings, so in space, it would seem almost completely safe. The perpetrators of such accidents are generally reckless drivers who are unhappily breaking the speed limit order, lacking sensitivity to pedestrians, disregard not only road traffic regulations, but also the voice of common sense and suggestions suggested by the imagination. However, pedestrians are the victims of accidents also due to their own irresponsible behaviors, such as unexpectedly entering the road directly in front of a moving vehicle, crossing the road in unacceptable places, suddenly entering the road from behind a standing vehicle, attempting to cross a red light, absorbing other activities, like using Smartphone. Pedestrians are killed or seriously injured during the autumn and winter, when early darkness makes them, especially on unlit roadsides that are invisible to drivers. Accident victims are often children. In 2017, there were 2 822 road accidents with the participation of the youngest from zero to fourteen years old, the number of children who died in such tragic events is 56, while 3116 very young people suffered injuries.

Happy meetings on the road

The organizers of the spectacular educational and preventive action, co-financed by the Justice Fund, administered by the Ministry of Justice, paid particular attention to one of the factors generating a large number of road accidents in which the victims are mainly pedestrians (including children). This aspect is the degree of mutual self-perception of road users who interact with each other and can bring irreversible consequences. It's all about meeting on the way of driving a mechanized vehicle with a person moving on foot. The condition for a happy run and the finale of such a road meeting is uninterrupted communication between both entities. The term 'communication' in this case is synonymous with visibility: the pedestrian must see the approaching vehicle well in order to be able to behave adequately to the situation, while it is important for the driver to see a pedestrian in advance who goes by the side or intends to cross the road or also goes out from behind the car standing by the road. Minister of Justice Zbigniew, inaugurating on October 15, 2018, at Primary School Jana the action "Good to see you!", Expressed this truth as follows: "Safely it means evidently - someone who is visible on the road is much safer." One must realize that in difficult weather conditions, and especially after dark, a pedestrian with no reflective tapes is visible to the driver only from a distance of 20-30 meters. This is not much, considering the fact that a car traveling at 90 km / h overcomes in one second up to 25 meters, while its braking distance - the time elapsing from seeing a pedestrian by the driver to stopping the vehicle - amounts to as much as 57 meters (in the case of ice-cold is an even longer distance)! These imaginative numbers show that a pedestrian who suddenly appears in the driver's eyesight has little chance of avoiding an accident. Their significant increase is therefore related to making the pedestrian visible from a distance. This effect is ensured by reflective vests, which make the driver see the pedestrian already from a distance of 130-150 meters, so he has five times more time for reaction, as a result, the risk of deduction decreases seven times. Therefore, the central undertaking of the "Good to see you!" The campaign was the transfer of protective vests to three million primary schoolchildren across the country. Children also receive a "cheat sheet", informing about the seven basic rules of behavior on the road, to be visible to other users of the traffic.

Holistic campaign

The message of the campaign is not limited to instill in young people a useful habit of putting on reflective vests with reflective materials to make themselves visible. The series of the animated film features the attitudes of the strongly contrasted heroes - Sonia and Toni, and Jack and Wick. Sonia and Jack are children who are guided - on the road and in life - by prudence, mindfulness, responsibility for themselves and others, observing the rules and principles, open to the needs of others. However, their opposites - Toni and Wick - appear as constantly watching egocentrics on their Smartphone, ignoring rules, recklessly treating road and life risks. From the troubles, they fall into because of lack of reason, imagination, and mindfulness. They bring out their empathy Sonia and Jack.

"Good to see you" is a holistic campaign. Its purpose is not only to show the need to care for being perceived on the road but also to effectively make ourselves "well-seen" in the most varied situations that life brings with it.

Let yourself be seen on a motorcycle!

Car drivers very often admit that there was an accident, because the motorcyclist did not notice. We suggest how you can improve your visibility on a motorcycle.

The Hurt report initiated by the Department of National Transport Safety of the United States confirmed that when the motorcyclist wore bright yellow, orange or red reflective vests - the probability of participating in the accident decreased because his "visibility" increased significantly. In contrast, the MAIDS study, commissioned by the Association of European Motorcycle Manufacturers (ACEM) with the support of the European Commission, showed an increase in the number of accidents that occurred when motorcycle drivers wore dark clothing.

Therefore, more and more often, clothing manufacturers permanently fix reflective materials and use materials in neon colors in their products. However, if we do not have such an outfit, we can stock up on: reflective stripes on the torso or ankle, vests or butterflies on the shoulders. Such additions will make us more eye-catching in the daytime, and additionally, after dark, the reflective elements will reflect the vehicle's headlight. Very often you can also personalize them with an inscription.

Helmet manufacturers are also more and more often in their offer, not only better white helmets visible in the day, but also those equipped with reflective graphics and neon colors.

Motorbike and helmet can be reflective also on their own. For this purpose, you need to buy reflective tapes to stick in the rim of the rim or a universal type to wrap selected elements of the motorcycle. The choice is considerable, we can choose colors and, for example, adjust them to the color of the motorcycle.

Safe Christmas action

Out of concern for the safety of people traveling on the roads of the whole country on December 21-26, traffic policemen will conduct nationwide Safe Christmas activities 2018.

In the run-up to Christmas, and on holidays, many families set out on a journey to visit their relatives. Even if the road for some is not far away, it should be safe.

Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Last year, on December 22-26, in 23 cases, one person was killed, and 32 were injured. It is true that a smaller number of events that are often recorded within business days. However, lack of prudence and nonchalance on the roads, these are still the main causes of accidents.

To meet the diagnosed threats, the police in these sensitive days will intensify the activities on the roads to ensure maximum safety for all travelers, especially on days of trips and return days.

During this exceptional period, the police will do their best to support travelers, concentrating their activities in particular on providing road assistance to all road users.

Therefore, during Christmas Safe 2018, policemen serving on the roads will pay special attention to the state of sobriety, the technical condition of vehicles, the way of transporting passengers, especially children. They will also remind motorists to control the speed of travel, that you cannot make up for the lost time during the holidays.

Drivers, while driving, are responsible not only for their own safety but also for the safety of others. In turn, passengers should be aware that although they do not drive the vehicle, they can have an impact on the safety of the journey, by using seat belts or by not allowing the driver to exceed the speed limit or even worse, get behind the wheel after drinking alcohol or agents similar to alcohol (drugs, medicines). Last year, as many as 97 intoxicated drivers were detained during the holiday season.

What is the police doing?
We should also pay special attention to the youngest road users, providing them with a safe journey in a safety seat that meets the right technical conditions.

Do not forget to prepare your car for the road. In winter conditions, first of all, check the lights, brakes, fluids and, of course, put on winter tires.

In conditions of insufficient visibility, drivers notice later than usual any unobstructed obstacles on the road, in particular pedestrians dressed in clothing that is close to the environment (black, gray). It is worth to let pedestrians wear reflective vests in a visible way for drivers of vehicles. We remind you that it is the duty of all pedestrians who move on a roadway or roadside outside of a built-up area after dark. It's worth taking care of your safety by wearing a reflective element with reflective material in the built-up area.

Police want to control cyclists more

Not only motorists are sometimes stopped by the police, but sometimes it also catches Riders. This was reinforced on Wednesday morning when three police officers from the Ebensburg Police Inspectorate, together with the traffic control team, were carrying out an inspection with focus on "light on the bicycle!" have performed. Numerous bicycles had to be complained of on the way to school in the road due to the inadequate or nonexistent lighting device. In the control, however, the police appealed to the insight of cyclists, had to pay for the time being no one. On the contrary, particularly exemplary drivers were rewarded with small chocolate and reflective ribbons.

In connection with the action, the police again appealed to the parents to send their children on the way to school. In addition to a functioning lighting device should be paid to light or reflective clothing which made with reflective fabric. In addition, a suitable bicycle helmet is part of the basic equipment of every cyclist. The cyclists were not asked to pay yet, but that could change soon. The policy of the Police Inspectorate Ebensburg announces that in the coming months he will pay more attention to cyclists and punish violations accordingly.
