Police officers checked cyclists, focusing mainly on wearing helmets

Police officers from Liberec shed light on cyclists as part of the “Cycling with Helmet Only” event. During the preventive action, they focused, for example, on the correct deployment of the helmet, the mandatory equipment of the bike and cyclists also undergo a breath test.

This time all the cyclists were very lucky. Due to the fact that it was a preventive action, they received a maximum warning. “Police checked over thirty cyclists. Almost every second did not have mandatory bicycle equipment, ”said police spokeswoman Vladimíra Šrýtrová.

At the same time, police warned that although the helmet is not mandatory for persons over 18, riders should not underestimate wearing it. "Cyclists are among the most vulnerable group of traffic participants," the spokeswoman commented. However, controlled cyclists turned out pretty well, with only one adult wearing a helmet.

Not only cyclists but also in-lists and other participants received from police officers reflective tapes, a practical bike first aid kit or perhaps a map of the Jizera Mountains.
