If you plan to ride a bike, look out
for a change that will be introduced before the next season.
Croatia is also updating its traffic
legislation. Since many Slovenians visit the country every year and many of
them also cycle there, it is good to know about the special novelty they intend
to introduce in their southern neighbor. The draft law on transport, which the
government submitted to parliament a few days ago, is making several changes
and amendments to the young drivers and punishment points there, while serious
violators are waiting for a mandatory health check, similar to what is already
regulated in Slovenia.
They are abolishing the completely
bureaucratic first roadworthiness test that hitherto had to be done in Croatia
for brand new vehicles.
There will be a need for visibility
Honey for foreigners and Slovenes interesting news is article 113, which talks
about cyclists. It says that riders will be required to wear a reflective
safety vest or reflective
clothing at night as well as during the daytime in the event of reduced
visibility, Vecernji List reports. The obligation applies to all riders who
will ride on a public roadway. Therefore, only light fixtures on the wheel will
not be enough. The penalty for those who would not consider the novelty is 40
euros. The law must also be approved by parliament.
