Ultrasound's first graders move safely through the traffic. This is the result of a first assessment of the police. However, the parents are having problems.

After a long training with the police, Ultrasound's new schoolchildren were on the road for the first time independently between the beginning of school at the end of August 2018 and the autumn holidays. How did it start? Questions to the 1st police chief commissioner Calf Fertile from the traffic service of the Dortmund police.

Mr. Fertile, year after year, the police train with first graders for a safe way to school. The start of the school is now eight weeks back - is everything going well in traffic?

It's going very well. So far, there were no problems. During the first 14 days, we intensively accompanied the first graders and monitored the traffic. Just a year before they go to school, they visit the puppet stage and practice in the neighborhoods with the district officials the school routes. Everything is running smoothly.

We have often reported problems with parent taxis. Again and again, the police are checking in front of the schools. Is this still a perennial favorite?

Yes. At one school more, at the other school less. We work with the city and the schools to find out where pick-up and pick-up zones can be set up. Due to a large number of schools, this is a long process. Where there are delivery zones already, it has improved in the initial phase. Basically, the problem still exists because there are unreasonable parents. In their quest to get as close as possible to the schools, they cause traffic chaos in front of the schools.

School children are permanent and equal participants in the traffic. What is special about the first graders in the aftermath of the autumn holidays?

Now the dark season begins. We always have to point out that it is especially important that children wear bright and reflective clothing with reflective tapes so that they stand out in the traffic. We will emphasize this after the holidays. Our call to motorists is that you should drive carefully in the early morning hours and pay attention to the children.
