A large number of residents of Bachelor concentrated on the 19 km of
Castillo Avenue, where the accident occurred in which the cyclist Pablo Ramos
was run over, and after a brief tribute, the participants moved to the Civic
Center.
"We want to thank all those who came here to participate in this
new Bactericidal pot la Aida in commemoration of the death of Pablo Ramos,
which took place on March 15, 2014, five years ago", expressed from the
organization Bimetallics or la Aida, which was accompanied by the Club Pedal 9
DE Julio and Murderess Bic i-bales Bachelor.
"Like every year we are going to pedal peacefully and with the
same demands, but we believe that this is not another year. Since the last time
we met here in our city, 11 people died in traffic accidents. But it's not
about numbers. They are human beings and we want to remember each one of them:
Nicolas Coronado, Nicole Martinet, Nicolas Andres Aguilar Manifold, Tom's
Felice Bootleggers, Mathias Del Paglia, Hernia Coca, Jonathan Maxim Salinas,
Mathias Demeter, Moxie Uriel Demeter, Anselmo Rodriguez and Marten Alejandro
Company "manifested.
"There are 11 neighbors who are no longer there, more than 11
families who went through a traumatic loss that has no consolation. The worst
of all is that all the conditions that caused the disaster that ended with the
life of Pablo are still present in our streets until today. A few days ago a
road safety study was published informing us that very close to here, at km 18
almost 40% of the drivers are driving with excessive speed. Our streets are
very poorly maintained and there is no infrastructure for the exclusive use of
the bicycle "they questioned.
"We believe that peaceful coexistence between the different users
of the public road is possible, regardless of the means of transport they use.
In this context we have been conducting the Metro and Medium campaign, to raise
awareness among our neighbors that life goes on a bike and it must be
respected, "they said from the organization.
"We are convinced - they continued - that not a single death is
acceptable in road accidents. Human life has incalculable value, and municipal,
provincial and national authorities must establish public policies based on
this basic premise. Although according to our Constitution we all have the same
right to transit through the territory of our country, province or city, our
transport infrastructure is designed and built to prioritize the movement of
motor vehicles, marginalizing those who move on foot or in the bike. We
advocate for a more equitable infrastructure, where we are all equally safe and
comfortable. To increase the safety of all road users we have to do something
to slow down in urban environments. Establish Zones 30 (where the maximum speed
is 30km / h) in residential or commercial streets. Lower the speed to 50Km / h
in avenues. In any case, effective controls must be established so that the
current limits are not exceeded, "they affirmed.
Basic recommendations to go out to pedal
- Wear a helmet, lights, reflective clothing, reflective vests.
- Try to maintain a closed peloton (less experienced cyclists should go
to the front of the peloton, and the rest adapt to that speed).
- Do not go to the opposite lane for any reason.
- Do not overtake security cars.
- If one goes too slow and there is a lot of free space ahead, go to
the shoulder and continue at your pace, allowing the car to take care of the
peloton. The stops will be more or less long and you can surely reach the
peloton later.
- If an emergency vehicle comes, everyone must slow down and go slowly
to the shoulder (it is dangerous to go down at high speed).
- Do not enter into arguments or fights.
