The vest, which has been distributed nationwide by the ADAC free of charge since the beginning of school, is as often misunderstood, often the latest thing in fashion. But they increase visibility and, according to the ADAC Foundation, can "see their way through" to over six million children.

"While children in normal street clothes are only noticed at distances of up to ten or twelve meters, the children in yellow with the additionally printed reflective  materials are already visible if they are still well over 120 meters away," said Karlheinz Renner, chairman of the Motorsport club ( MSC), who handed over 61 neon-yellow vests on Tuesday on behalf of the Foundation's 61 first graders.

"In Germany, around 30,000 children are involved in traffic accidents every year," emphasizes the ADAC. "the safety of the youngest in the road is particularly important."
