"Not so fast," warns Luther Philips, the traffic safety adviser of the Krefeld Police Department, the children on their bicycles. At the final examination of the bicycle training at the primary school in Almena, the primary schoolchildren were able to prove their abilities.
Training is part of mobility and transport education during primary school. Even before the summer holidays the children had begun teaching the theory. "What are the main traffic rules?", "What are the most important traffic rules?" - All these questions were on the agenda of the subject.
Before it went into the practice training, the children had to answer in a test various questions to the learned. "The students have all done very well and have always participated," says Beaten Hulls in reflective clothing, a lecturer and congress teacher. Together with the local police in the person of Jorgen Hoffmann, the Chief Police Officer, and with Luther Philips of the Department, the practical part was then designed.
In five double hours the children were familiar with different traffic situations. "Above all, it is about strengthening motor skills and putting the previously learned traffic rules into practice," explains Luther Philips. "The children should also learn that even if they behave correctly, they can be accused of accidents by other people," said the police officer.
With the final examination the children got a bicycle pass and a safety vest. During the entire practical training the teachers were supported by parents of the pupils.
